Abstract
Purpose of this study is comparison and analysis about Physics and Chemistry textbook by field of gifted-science education in North Korea. Including quantitative and comparative analysis for contents of South and North Korea\'s science textbooks, through this research we can deeply understand about the level of gifted-science education in North Korea. This research can also suggest the basic materials for making an objective and realistic alternative way about textbook unification of both countries. As analysis objects, we have chosen the five physics and four chemistry textbooks which are being used in \'The First High Middle School\' corresponds to the gifted-science school of North Korea.
The 2-dimensional analysis is divided into external form and contents analysis. The external form analysis consists of four categories as follows.
- A format, quality of paper and chromaticity
- Number of characters per page, Size of type and number of pages
- Structure and characteristics : example, problem, experiment etc
- Other contents : the speech of highest leader, etc
The contents analysis is different for subjects, we analysed 9 domains and 3 domains of contents for physics and chemistry, respectively.
The gifted-science education in North Korea is being treated as a important policy. However the main content is not the approach to essential science but accompanying with industrials. Also the progress of class is 2 years faster than the South Korea. The terms of science is unfamiliar due to compounding of Korean. We need so efforts for the unification of science terms using the easy understanding terms for students. This research is significant because we try to the contents approach for the gifted-science education of North Korea which is not well known.
